OwlWatt verifies your solar production guarantee. Carry it with you on iPhone.

OwlWatt reads your Enphase system, computes what it should produce, and documents any shortfall — so you can actually enforce your contract. The iPhone app is your window into that service, wherever you are.

OwlWatt for iPhone

Your OwlWatt subscription, always in your pocket: push alerts, home-screen quick view, and one-tap claim filing — the native iOS app is your window into the same verification service you get on the web.

  • Production guarantee tracking — Compare actual kWh against your contract's promised output
  • Real-time monitoring — 5-second inverter data with the OwlWatt Iris collector; cloud-only mode reads Enphase's API at its standard resolution
  • Push alerts — Instant notification when production drops below expected threshold
  • Claim filing — Generate a formatted, data-backed shortfall report with one tap
  • Restore purchases — Switch iPhones or reinstall without losing your subscription
  • Works with Enphase — Same data your installer uses, independently verified

Choose your collector

OwlWatt needs a data source to read your inverter. Two options — from dedicated hardware to fully cloud-based.

Cloud-Only
No extra hardware (universal fallback)

No hardware, no desktop software. OwlWatt polls the Enphase Enlighten API on your behalf. Data updates every 15 minutes (API rate limits apply). Works on any platform.

  • Access from any browser — Windows, Mac, iOS, Android
  • Nothing to install
  • Lower resolution than OwlWatt Iris (15-min vs 5-sec)

Why solar guarantee tracking matters

Many installer contracts include a production guarantee. Enforcing one takes documentation a homeowner rarely has.

OwlWatt computes what your system should produce using NREL pvlib physics models, compares that against your actual inverter data, and translates any shortfall into dollars.

$3,000–$6,000
Example: an 8% shortfall on a 10 kW system at $0.18–$0.35/kWh over 25 years

How OwlWatt compares

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the iOS app to use OwlWatt?

No. OwlWatt works entirely in your browser at owlwatt.com. The iOS app is an optional native wrapper that adds push notifications, a home screen icon, and a faster mobile experience. Your subscription covers both — no extra charge.

Does OwlWatt work with Enphase?

Yes. OwlWatt reads directly from the Enphase Enlighten API or from a local OwlWatt Iris collector that polls your IQ Gateway every 5 seconds. You get per-microinverter production data, independent expected-production modeling, and documented shortfall reports — all in one place.

Does OwlWatt work with SolarEdge?

Not yet — SolarEdge support is on our roadmap. OwlWatt today connects directly to Enphase Enlighten and the Enphase IQ Gateway. Join the waitlist at owlwatt.com for SolarEdge release updates.

What is the difference between the OwlWatt Iris and cloud-only collectors?

The OwlWatt Iris collector ($149) plugs into your home network and polls your Enphase IQ Gateway directly every 5 seconds. It works even if the Enphase cloud is down. The cloud-only option needs no hardware or software at all — OwlWatt polls the Enphase Enlighten API on your behalf. Iris is recommended because it catches outages the cloud API misses and gives you the highest-resolution data.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. Cancel anytime from Settings → Subscription in the app or on owlwatt.com. On iOS, you can also cancel through Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. You keep access until the end of the current billing period. No refunds for partial periods, but you are never locked in.

Is my solar production data secure?

Yes. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Production data is stored in an isolated Postgres database. OwlWatt never stores your Enphase account credentials in plaintext — OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest. We do not sell or share your data with installers, manufacturers, or third parties.

What does a production guarantee shortfall actually mean?

Some solar installer contracts include a production guarantee — a promised number of kWh per year. Check yours carefully; not all contracts include one. If your system produces less than that, the contract typically specifies a remedy. OwlWatt documents the shortfall so you can act on it. OwlWatt computes expected production using NREL pvlib models calibrated to your panel specs, tilt, and local weather, then compares that against actual inverter data to document any shortfall in dollars.

Does OwlWatt restore purchases on iOS?

Yes. If you reinstall the app or switch iPhones, tap Restore Purchases in Settings to relink your Apple subscription. If you subscribed on the web, sign in with the same email and your access is restored automatically — no Apple transaction needed.
