What this is
OwlWatt is an independent solar production-measurement service for residential homeowners. We read your inverter data, compare it against an independent pvlib model, and produce warranty-claim documentation when your system underperforms. Full methodology is at /methodology. Normal price is $9.99/month or $99/year.
For the first 100 customers — and only the first 100 — we're offering annual pricing at $79/year, locked. As long as your subscription stays active, your annual rate stays at $79 even as we raise prices for new customers. Cancel anytime; the rate ends when the subscription ends.
What "locked" means in plain English
| Scenario | What happens to your price |
|---|---|
| You stay subscribed through 2027, 2028, 2029… | Stays $79/year |
| We raise the standard annual price to $129 in 2027 | You stay $79/year |
| We add new paid features in 2028 | You get them at $79/year |
| You cancel, then come back six months later | New rate applies (offer is gone) |
| You switch from annual to monthly | Monthly rate applies (not founders') |
The honest terms
- $79/year, billed annually. Same access as the standard plan — same dashboard, same warranty claim letters, same Home Assistant integration, same methodology.
- First 100 customers. When the 100th customer signs up, the offer closes. We won't extend it under another name.
- Window: 2026-05-16 through 2026-05-23. After 11:59 PM ET on May 23, the offer is gone.
- Cancel anytime, no fee. Standard subscription terms — see /terms.
- Pricing lock survives feature additions. Anything we ship to the standard plan ships to you at no extra cost, as long as your subscription stays active.
- What ends the lock: cancellation, lapsed payment for more than 30 days, or switching to monthly billing. Re-subscribing after that point gets you the then-current price.
- If OwlWatt sunsets: if we shut down the service, you get a pro-rated refund of the unused portion of your annual subscription. We're a real business with real obligations, not a hobby.
Why we're doing this
Why we're not doing AppSumo or a lifetime deal
The standard pattern at this stage is a lifetime deal on AppSumo — $99-$249 once, support the customer forever, take a 30% cut. We considered it and said no. Two reasons.
One: OwlWatt's whole positioning is the independent evidence layer for solar warranty disputes. Discount-marketplace customers come for the deal, not for the product. Wrong audience for what we're building.
Two: a lifetime commitment to 100 customers before we know what supporting them actually costs over ten years is reckless. A subscription with a locked annual rate keeps both sides honest. You pay if it's worth it; we deliver if you keep paying.
