OwlWhat a SolarEdge owner gets
- Daily production history, backfilled. On connect, OwlWatt pulls the daily production history from SolarEdge's cloud starting at your install date, then keeps it current every day.
- Expected production and performance ratio. Each day is compared with a weather-modelled expectation for your location, roof orientation and tilt (method at /methodology). Performance ratio is actual over expected.
- Production-guarantee shortfall math. If your contract guarantees a level of production, OwlWatt computes the gap in kWh and dollars. SolarEdge's own cloud figure is the claim-of-record for the comparison, and OwlWatt's model is the independent yardstick beside it.
- Hourly per-inverter power. One power curve per inverter, so you can see whether one inverter is behind the others.
- Optimizer status. OwlWatt lists which optimizers are reporting and flags any that have stopped, by serial number and its position label as SolarEdge lists it.
- Canopy shading from LiDAR. Shading from trees and nearby structures is estimated from USGS 3DEP LiDAR for your address.
- Roof imagery. The roof view used to estimate your array's orientation, which you can override by entering your own.
What SolarEdge owners do not get, and why
Two things on OwlWatt are Enphase-only, and the reason is SolarEdge's public API, not our choice:
- Per-panel watts. SolarEdge's API has no per-panel (per-optimizer) power on any tier. For optimizers we can see that a unit is reporting or not, but not how much it produced.
- Live intraday power. The API does not offer intraday site power to third parties. Your SolarEdge data reaches OwlWatt daily, with hourly per-inverter power.

How to connect
- Create an account and choose SolarEdge as your inverter brand.
- Authorize OwlWatt from your SolarEdge account when prompted.
- OwlWatt backfills your history. Upload your solar contract and the guarantee terms are extracted for the shortfall math.
No device is shipped or installed. Access is granted through SolarEdge's own authorization page, so you do not give OwlWatt your SolarEdge password.
Why OwlWatt does not sell SolarEdge, or Enphase
OwlWatt takes no commission from installers or equipment vendors. The subscription is the only revenue, which is what makes the record credible in a dispute. If you own SolarEdge, the point is the same as for Enphase: an independent check on whether your system is producing what your contract says it should.

Does OwlWatt show live or per-panel SolarEdge data?
No. SolarEdge's public API exposes no per-panel (per-optimizer) power on any tier and no intraday site power to third parties. OwlWatt shows daily production, hourly per-inverter power, and whether each optimizer is reporting. Live intraday and per-panel watts are available for Enphase systems only.
Do I need to buy any hardware to connect SolarEdge?
No. You authorize OwlWatt from your SolarEdge account and OwlWatt reads your data from the SolarEdge cloud. The OwlWatt Iris local collector works with Enphase systems only.
Whose production number counts for a guarantee claim?
SolarEdge's own cloud figure is the claim-of-record for a SolarEdge system, because it is the record the system's own monitoring produces. OwlWatt compares it with a weather-modelled expectation for your roof.
