What this is — and what it isn't
OwlWatt is an independent measurement service for residential solar production guarantees. It reads your production data, compares it against an independent, physics-based expected-production model, and documents any shortfall against your contract — the full methodology is at /methodology. That service runs on Enphase data today. Extending it to SolarEdge systems means integrating a different API, validating the data against real SolarEdge inverters and optimizers, and confirming the shortfall math holds up the same way it does for Enphase. That's real engineering work, and it goes faster with real SolarEdge owners testing it as it's built.
The offer
If you own a SolarEdge system and want in early:
Sign up now
You onboard like any OwlWatt customer — create an account, upload your solar contract for analysis. We confirm your SolarEdge system details.
Stay engaged
As SolarEdge pieces come online, we'll reach out to connect your data, ask you to confirm it looks right, and get your feedback. Respond in a timely fashion when we do.
Two years, on us
In exchange for active participation through the roughly two-year development period, your OwlWatt subscription is free for two years.
What OwlWatt does (once your SolarEdge system is connected)
Independent production measurement
OwlWatt reads your inverter data and cross-checks it against a physics-based expected-production model (pvlib PVWatts) — not your installer's or SolarEdge's own numbers.
Shortfall documentation
When measured production falls below your guarantee, OwlWatt calculates the gap in kWh and dollars and produces a claim report citing your contract's exact clauses.
Contract analysis (live today)
Upload your solar agreement now — OwlWatt extracts your production guarantee terms and explains them, independent of whether your production data is connected yet.
An independent arbiter, not a vendor
OwlWatt takes no commissions from installers or equipment vendors, including SolarEdge. The subscription is the only revenue — that's what makes the documentation credible in a dispute.
The honest terms
- Two SolarEdge homes, no more. This is a deliberately small development cohort — exactly 2 slots. Once both are filled, this round of applications closes.
- Two years of OwlWatt free. No subscription charge for two years from your signup, in exchange for active, timely participation in the SolarEdge development program for that same period.
- "Active and timely" means responding to OwlWatt's outreach within 7 calendar days — confirming system details, testing SolarEdge data connections as they come online, flagging problems — each time we ask.
- You onboard like any customer. Create your account, connect what you can today (your contract, and Enphase data if you also have an Enphase system), and we'll bring your SolarEdge production data online as that integration ships.
- The two-year clock starts at signup, not at SolarEdge launch. Because SolarEdge support is being built during this window, some of your two years may pass before your SolarEdge data is fully connected.
- Missing the 7-day response window on a sustained basis may end early-access status, converting the account to standard pricing going forward, with notice first.
- Standard OwlWatt terms of service and privacy policy apply to your account beyond what's described here.
Why we're doing this
Frequently asked questions
Does OwlWatt support SolarEdge systems today?
Not yet. OwlWatt's only live integration today is Enphase (Enlighten OAuth). SolarEdge support is in active development. This page describes the early-access program for SolarEdge owners who want to help build and test it before it's generally available.
What is the OwlWatt SolarEdge early-access program?
It's a deliberately small invitation: OwlWatt is taking just 2 SolarEdge homes into its development program. You sign up and onboard like any OwlWatt customer, and in exchange for actively participating and responding to OwlWatt's outreach within 7 calendar days during the roughly two-year development period, you receive two years of OwlWatt service at no charge.
What does "active participation" actually require?
Responding when OwlWatt reaches out — confirming your system details, testing SolarEdge data connections as they come online, and flagging anything that looks wrong — within 7 calendar days each time. It's not a full-time commitment; it's being a responsive participant rather than a silent signup.
When will SolarEdge monitoring actually launch?
There's no fixed launch date yet. SolarEdge support is under active development. Early-access partners get it first as pieces become ready, and the earliest, most active participants directly shape what ships.
I have Enphase, not SolarEdge — can I use OwlWatt now?
Yes. OwlWatt's Enphase integration is live today: contract analysis, independent pvlib-modeled expected production, shortfall detection, and claim report generation. Start a free 30-day trial.
Email [email protected] to apply — tell us about your SolarEdge system (inverter model, optimizers or not, roughly how many panels) and we'll follow up. Olivier reads every message. See also OwlWatt vs SolarEdge Insight for how the two tools compare once SolarEdge support ships.
